Any time you add a domain as hosted in some account, you usually set a pair of Name Servers to point it to that specific company. On their end, three records are set up automatically the moment the domain name is added - one A record and two MX records. The former is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the domain where its site is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they reveal the server that handles the emails for that particular domain. The site and the e-mail hosting are often regarded as one thing, while they are in fact two different services. Having independent records for them will enable you to have them with different companies if you would like. For instance, some new provider can have exceptional uptime for your website, but you may not want to switch your emails from your current host and by using an A record to point the domain address to the former and MX records to have the emails with the latter, you can get the best of both companies. These records are checked when you want to open a website or send an e-mail - either way, the service provider whose name servers are used for the Internet domain will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you've set records different from their own, the right web/mail server will then be contacted and you will see the needed website or your email is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

If you have a cloud hosting account with our company and you wish to direct either your website or your e-mails to a different provider, it is going to take you literally just 2 mouse clicks to do so. Our Hepsia Control Panel offers an easy-to-use DNS Records tool, where all your domains and subdomains will be listed alphabetically and you'll be able to see and edit the A and/or MX records for any of them. If you choose to use a different e-mail provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the standard 2, it is not going to take more than a couple of clicks either to add them. You may also set different latency for these records and the lower the latency, the higher the priority a particular MX record is going to have. The propagation of every record that you change or create isn't going to take more than a few hours and if required, you'll also be able to set the so-called Time-To-Live value, which shows how long a record will remain active after it's changed or deleted.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

With the semi-dedicated service we offer, you're going to have 100 % control over the records of all domains and subdomains which you add in your hosting account. You can easily check what A and MX records each one of them has using the DNS Records section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and editing any record takes as little as a few clicks. If you want to switch your web or email hosting provider, you can edit the necessary record and point your domain name to the other company for one of the services, while you still keep using the other one through us. You can also keep the main domain here, while you edit the A record of only one of its subdomains. If you're editing the MX records and you need additional ones on top of the standard two we have, you could create them with ease and set a different priority for every one.
